We got there a tad bit early due to a lack of trains leaving from New Southgate but that was okay because we had time for some breakfast at the many cafes on offer!
Robert and I devoured 2 hot chocolates, mine with whipped cream and marshmallows of course!
and 1 raspberry and white chocolate muffin for me and 1 chocolate muffin for Robert.
We checked in and waited to board. Boarding time came at 7.00am for our 7.30am train.
Here are some pictures of St. Pancras International
Here is Robert playing PSP on the Eurostar
When we got to Paris we lost an hour and we were standing at Gare du Nord rail station with no clue as what to do next. We hadn't written down the name or address of our hotel! All I had was a vague memory of looking it up and remembering the closest metro stop was 'Opera'. So we went on a whim and went underground to the metro and traversed our way to Opera. We followed the "Sortie" signs and were brought out on to the street, walked down a side street and there we were! It was perfect!
We got to the hotel and dropped off our luggage and strolled around town and had some lunch.
We then checked in at 2.00pm and went to our room and..........crashed!!!! I don't know what happened we just died! and woke up at 11.00pm which was 7.00am Sydney time. We don't know if it was a delayed jet lag thing or our body clock playing tricks on us, but we were out cold!
After waking up, I wrote the blog entry and we rugged up to head out on the town and sniff out some food! So at 1.00am we ended up at the uber classy joint that is McDonalds!! Whilst perusing the menu board we totally had a pulp fiction moment! Robert was looking a quarter pounder, but what he really should have been looking for is a Royal with cheese!!!
Back to the hotel and back to bed by 2.00am and we slept right through!
